"I
went to the concert last night. I just have to tell you that
if
you didn’t
know what happened in the food court. I
was just arriving when you came out and introduced the girl who won the
National Anthem contest. I was only
listening with half an ear because my son was slow in getting through
the crowd. And once Bria started to sing, though, there
was an amazing occurrence. I walked past
two men leaning on a bench, and the National Anthem started, one stood
up and
took off his hat, and when the second guy didn’t do the same, the first
guy hit
him with the hat to make him respond.
Slowly, I looked around. Most
everyone in the whole area had stopped what they were doing and turned
towards
the stage even though we couldn’t see the stage where the flag
was. It was amazing to see that even seven years later,
the pride in our country is still there.
Sometimes it doesn’t show in day-to-day things, but this made me
pause. And no one moved while the anthem
continued."
